Episode 100 – Gilbert Lawand

Gilbert Lawand

Gilbert Lawand has opened for the likes of Dave Chappelle and Aziz Ansari.

It’s the 100th episode of Laughmatic! This week, Mo celebrates by finally having as his guest a comic who has opened for Dave Chappelle and Aziz Ansari, and brought previously unknown comics to Atlanta such as Rory Scovel, Kyle Kinane, Sean Patton, and Eric Andre — it’s Gilbert Lawand!

Gilbert, yet another comic ready to depart Atlanta (in his case, to NYC), talks about the earlier days of the Atlanta comedy scene, bringing then-unknown comics to headline his Comedy Gold shows and watching them become today’s most exciting headliners, and helping bring the Laughing Skull Lounge to life.

He also talks to Mo about Mo’s new job at the Atlanta Improv, and how, despite the turnover in Atlanta’s comedy scene, it appears poised to remain as strong as ever.

Does moving to New York mean starting comedy at ground zero, or starting “Comedy at Ground Zero”? All that and more, on this week’s episode of Laughmatic!
